Claire Poneman, LMSW

Psychotherapist specializing in eating disorders, body image concerns, and relationship issues.

Specialities

  • I work with people navigating restrictive eating, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder, Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), OSFED, Orthorexia, and more. In therapy, I support people in nourishing their bodies and minds while exploring the deeper emotions and patterns beneath the surface.

  • I treat a wide array of body image experiences, including severe body image distress, body dysmorphia, the GLP-1/Ozempic journey, and more. Body image concerns can take up so much energy, leaving you feeling disconnected from yourself. My goal is to help you move toward greater body neutrality, so your body takes up less space in your mind and you can focus on living more fully.

  • Relationships are central to our lives, and they can also be our greatest source of feeling stuck. Whether you’re navigating conflict, patterns that repeat, or feeling unseen by those you love, therapy can help. I work with you to understand where these challenges come from and to create healthier, more fulfilling ways of connecting with others.

  • Big life shifts — including career changes, breakups, moves, or other transitions — can feel overwhelming. In therapy, we’ll explore your thoughts and emotions, uncover patterns, and build strategies to help you adjust, grow, and move forward with clarity and confidence.

About Me

I work with teens and adults navigating eating disorders, body image concerns, relationship issues, and life transitions, supporting them in finding greater peace, self-understanding, and emotional resilience. I also work with individuals who are supporting loved ones through an eating disorder.

I approach therapy with compassionate curiosity, creating space for my patients to explore their inner world at their own pace. My work is grounded in psychodynamic theory, trauma-informed care, and the principles of Health At Every Size (HAES).
